Role of Stability and Weight in Disc Golf!

Selecting the right discs is very essential when it comes to learning how to play disc golf. The right type of disc makes it easy to throw and control, leading to the enhancement of your skills and knowledge of the sport. A key component to that is the stability and weight of the disc. The best feature of disc golf is you don’t need to invest in a number of accessories; there are just discs and baskets, and you’re good to head out on the course.

Talking about stability can be some of the most confusing language in disc golf. Once you understand all the general techniques related to the game, the very first step is to find a disc that flies well with your natural motions, and everyone is different. This will help you use the curve to keep your throws straight. Your throwing motion plays an essential role to push a disc away from the side of the fairway, and closer to the middle.

Here we discuss some essential terms related to this amazing game; mainly pertaining to a right-handed backhand throw, the most common throw in disc golf:

        Understable:
Understable is the term used for the condition when the disc fades to the left during a straight throw at average power. If you are new to disc golf, you will want to look for an understable disc for your long drives.
        Overstable:
For most people, the average disc golf disc banks to the left side. This condition is termed as overstable. To get to the highest range, you need to sharpen the curve to the left and sharp edge discs work perfectly for this.

For left-handed people:
If you are left-handed, then you need to reverse the whole chart as the disc will fade in the opposite direction since you use the opposite spin. If you throw using the left-handed backhand, then you create a counter-clockwise spin on the disc. Because of this, understable discs will fade to the right and overstable discs will fade to the left.
These are just some of the essential terms linked to the disc stability and weight that will help you enhance your playing.
